My first vist to SF
I finally got around to my first visit to SF last night cos there was nothin much to do with everyone spamming lions arch with the king is comin.
So i took 4 hench, archer little thom and the 2 monks (god mhenlo is useless).
The first boss i encountered was gorrel or summat and my first ever boss in SF dropped gorrels staff which i was very happy with. We then encountered thornbeard and bludgeoner from which i came out with a gargash recurve bow. 2 greens in grenths i thought that was amazing.
So i enter Sorrows and take out all the mobs in the area and proceed to explore some more. in front of us i can see tarnok who has the longbow that i wanted. We take out the priest and all the mob and turn around to think to myself where the hell has the boss gone. I found him crushed underneath the big thing that crushes things as mhenlo found out (god i hate mhenlo).
Me and my team of noble hench (except mhenlo) ventured on clearing out the rest of SF with a few deaths (mainly Mhenlo) without a single green drop.
I was just wondering whether this was normal or whether god hates me or someone in my group (Mhenlo).
Anyways just asking.

Perhaps there were many, many green drops, though they just went to the Henchmen, unfortunate as it may be. :P

If this was your first trip then you will have a higher chance of green due to the anti-farming measures that nerf the drops the more you farm a specific area. Your doing good if you get a few greens per run (most I got was 3 per run). Usualy for me with hench I find 1 green because I farm that area regularly, but Im planning on farming elsewhere for the mo until the drops is sf pick up again for me again.

Garrok, I have Tarnok's Longbow if you want to buy it off me.
The first time I went into Sorrow's was doing one of the quests with henchies. I phailed... I then went farming with people and got a couple of greens. Been in twice more and got nothing....
Meh, I want Drago's Flatbow....

Nothing that drops in Grenth is really worth much or easy to sell, except for the Yakslapper which can fetch 10-20k. The stuff, useful or not, is just way too common. Whether you get 2k, 5k, or 8k for Grenth stuff depends on your patience, and whether you can find the right buyer. Also varies based on items for sure -- Flint's stuff being hardest to sell for example, but the general principle holds. Try Lion's Arch or Ascalon for Grenth items. Premium items can be sold in Warcamp, but the Grenth stuff is often a hard sell.
If your a class that can get groups quickly enough, you can get 1.2-1.5k minimum from a 20-40 minute final assault farming run, even if you don't get greens. Gold armors, dyes and chest keys push the average value of a greenless run to at least 2k. Throw in the chance of a truly valuable green, and the average value of a run is much higher. So there is a limit to how much effort its worth selling the Grenth stuff.

SF is a very odd place. Sometimes you get nothing at all, and sometimes you get everything you need/want.
I started FA farming 2 days ago, and on my first 2 runs, I got a Rago's wand, Malinon's Shield, and Grognars Shield (?). Since then, I haven't gotten any decent drops, and neither has anyone I have grouped with. But really, any drops is good down there, because you don't have to spend hours upon hours looking for a group (like UW/FoW).

I haven't really searched too hard to see if that is true or not....is that a solid fact or is it conjecture? How many trips to see a noticable decrease in drop-rates? If this is the truth it seems kind of unfair. For example: I want to get Bartok's Bone Staff for my necromancer, but to just buy would cost apprx 100k. I either A) must farm Orozar quest in SF over and over hoping for the drop or B) farm somewhere else over and over to acquire the money to buy it. If the point is to discourage farming, they never should have introduced the greens in the first place.
If there must be a penalty for farming, it should only affect rates of things that have dropped for you already. It is ludicrous to say there is only 1 place in the game that you can get this item, but then actually decrease your odds at getting it each time you try.

There is a penalty for farming the same area from the same entrance more than once. For example, if you have not done it before, go to Nolani Academy, open the gate, and wipe out the Charr there. Chances are, you'll get a few decent drops [for that level]. Now, go do it again, and you will see that the quality of your drops have dropped significantly [pun intended].

I have been in SF like a billon times, all I got was The Shadestone (Sold it for 16k), Flint's Artifact (Sold it for 6k), Grognar's Shield (Gave it to a friend), and I got The Bludgeoner (Using it with my hammer warrior), that was on my first 2 trys, and since then the worst dry spell ever, so good luck to all the noobs just starting to farm down there, if u ask me it is just one big dissapointment...

Thats ecactly my point - some are obviously farming the <insert favorite expletive here> out of SF, so what exactky is this penalty? You all say it lowers quality of drops, etc, but by how much? Cant be that much of a penalty when I see individuals in War Camp and Droknars and LA all selling multiple greens (I saw one selling Rago Staff who claimed to have like 5 or 6 of them.....)
With this supposed penalty for repeat farming, is there a way to rid yourself of the penalty by going elsewhere?

I typically farm SF with Henchmen, and never once got a green with them until last night.
Drago's Flat Bow. YAY!
